Wizarda € ™ s first article is the first book in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series which is also the basis for the television series Legend of the Seeker. This is a review of this remarkable book.

This isnâ ™ € t your typical epic fantasy book. Yes, it has all the trappings normal to expect an epic quest as size, lots of conflicts, and of course a dragon or two. This book has all those things, but has much more. In wizarda € ™ s First Rule Goodkind shows us more than an epic adventure story where our hero tries to save the world from ruin.

Our hero is named Richard Cipher and adventure with him on a journey to become a seeker. A seekerâ € ™ s role is to find the truth in things and a ™ € seekerâ s sword is the word â € € œTruthâ engraved on it. And in this journey to find the truth of this story Goodkind of history only to a true exploration of truth and nature of good and evil. There are many conversations and situations that explore the bipolarity of good versus evil and the gray area that lies between the two. Doesn € ™ t make sense that even the most wicked of men believe that what he is doing is right? Yes Goodkind does and it takes a good hard look at this. He raised doubts in his mind about the whole nature of truth and the real commitment that is needed to find the real truth. This is an intelligently written book that gives more than just a story. It gives much food for thought.

Unique twist in the story

A typical and effective tool for a writer to employ is to put our hero in a time limit, as time has increased by stress. It is very effective writerâ € ™ s the tool and in this novel Goodkind gives a nice twist on this. He puts the bad bad on a timer. Our protagonist (Darken Rahl) has a limit very specific time, if it is to achieve personal goals that will bring the debris down in the world. And our hero, along with a small group of peers can just frustrating especially if you can keep things out of time so that time runs out. Itâ € ™ sa wonderful investment for the usual time limit based Story.

The story and writing

The story and writing are excellent. There are some interesting plot twists and surprising and things that happen. In other words, going along a journey passionate and exciting. And there are some unique fantasy themes and ideas as the box of the Order and the Book of Shadows, he calculated are central to the story and quite unique.

Avoid some of the pitfalls of typical epic fantasy

One of the biggest problems that cross the epic fantasy series is the complexity that often contain. Many series of books are extremely complex, with a cast of characters that the numbers in the results, if not hundreds. This complexity can be confusing as the various factions, colleagues, families and lineages participate in history. Wizards First Rule nothing of this. We are introduced to the first central characters in the book as the story progresses we find a small number of new characters that are central to the story. Everything flows very well and everything goes blank. You Wona ™ € t have to take notes to make track of all the characters.

Topic and reading level

This book is not for children or the faint of heart. There is some graphic violence and an extensive scene of torture that is disturbing. I found it uncomfortable to read and this is exactly the point that Goodkind was trying of make. If you carefully study the ethics and morals of the battle between good and evil has to prove fully both sides of this coin ⠀ "both in the good in their goodness and evil, in fact, all of his dark and brooding. The only way to overcome evil is first seen and identified.

Wizarda € ™ s first article is an intelligently written and exciting epic fantasy story that goes beyond just a story. It is also an examination ethics, values, morality, and the perpetual battle between good and evil. It will make you think about the nature of the struggle and the real purpose of the hero.
