To Christians: If someone believes that Jesus is the Son of God and not God, are Christians?
Why or why not? Is it his fault that the to understand the Bible (with good intentions) is different from other Christians who believe in the Trinity? They just want to know what is right, like everyone else and must be admitted that arguments can be made on both sides of Scripture. * I further discount, apart from the books of the Bible as the Word of God alone must be our authority do not try to create problems but just wanted to know what most here think Colosssians 2:9 For in Him (Christ) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead. Is this not proof that he is God?
This is a difficult question, Birdy. A person is not guilty of honest errors in their theology. That would include their views of the divinity of Jesus. But, and is a huge but, once they have been taught the error of their beliefs, they are responsible to conform to orthodoxy. You see, at this point is no longer a question of ignorance. Rather, it is rebellion, pure and simple. The Christian Church has * always * affirmed the divine nature of Jesus. He is the Son of God. What you have to understand is that this means that Jesus is the same kind of be like your Father. Everyone knows that cows breed cattle, sheep engender sheep, and those people generate. Well, God begets God. There is nothing confusing about that at all. Everyone at the time of Jesus understood. That is why by which he tried to kill him so often. For a Jew, blasphemy to say a human being to God as his biological father was complete. It was a claim to deity itself. This is the teaching of Jesus entrusted to his apostles and preserved by the Church. Jesus Christ is "God with us" - Emmanuel. Rejecting this teaching after realizing that separates one of the faith community groups established by Jesus himself. Who deny the divinity of Christ are not and have never been Christians.
