No Digital SLR Photography Books?

I'm looking for some non-focused digital SLR photography books. I found a highly recommended / rated books however, all focused on using digital SLR cameras. I am currently using the Canon PowerShot G9 and am trying to learn to take some pictures better, instead of pulling the car - as iv been doing. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I just bought a Canon A630 and I would like to try the photo again professional (most just, you know, on vacation, point and shoot things) but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I think it would be a fun hobby, but I do not really have any idea how to start.
